Seyi Makinde’s case is a reason to appreciate the man Peter Obi is.

In Nigeria, Governors loot in their first tenure mostly to finance their second tenure election and keep enough change (in case).

But they loot in their second tenure to secure generational wealth, fund future political ambitions and “unforeseen circumstances.”

That's likely what Seti Makinde did by allocating a whopping N63 billion to renovate a government house, which neither he nor his deputy lives in.

Perhaps, there needs to be enough money for whatever plans he may have, for his children to have “enough” to waste, and for his family to “live above means.”

Peter Obi served for two tenures, in neither of which was any “frivolous” or “overbloated” contract found. It is ABNORMAL in the Nigerian political sense and system.
